What are bioremodeling treatments?
Biostimulators have key differences from normal hyaluronic acid. It-
- Contains hybrid technology with different biostimulating weights
- Stimulates your own body to produce collagen
- Improves skin laxity
What is the clinical indication of biostimulators?
This biostimulator is ideal for patients who have had UV damage in their early years.
- Provides dermal hydration
- Improves skin quality
- Provides visible lifting & skin tightening
- Erases wrinkles without adding volume
How long before I see results?
Results can be seen as early as the first week. It takes 3-6 months for maximal collagen remodelling to occur.

How many treatments will I need?
Most patients will benefit from 2 sessions one month apart. If you have significant laxity, a third treatment may be required.
(FYI: in European studies where there is less sun-damage, a good lift on the neck was seen in two treatments. If you are a Queenslander or have had significant UV, you will probably require 3 session.)
How is biostimulators different compared to hydrating treatments?
Unlike hyaluronic acid, biostimulation has low & high molecular weight. This means better collagen stimulation & added tissue integration.
Jessner TCA peel, one session
.
👉This is a medium depth peel. Occasionally I prep with retinoic acid beforehand, but thin skin like this patient, RA is not needed. I scrub with acetone, then coat with 2-4 layers of Jesser. I then have a cup of coffee then come back to finish off with TCA at 35%
.
😁Was having a friendly banter with my mentor & close friend @aprofphilipbekhor last night. Peels vs lasers. Why do I like peels? My chill out time. No loud noises apart from the patient's muffled screams 😱😱(joking). Despite the tech of lasers, I still like looking carefully at end points from peels. It is tactile, much like driving a manual car vs an automatic. Sure the latter is easier, but sometimes it’s the challenge to get the downshift perfectly matched, or the epidermis so evenly gray that the entire sheet slides from the dermis. It’s old school cool
.
👊🏻Disclaimer: You do need to watch your peel patients more closely cf. NA laser patients, that is fact💯

TCA peels are a simple way to rejuvenate skin. This picture is over a decade old, but I still enjoy peels over lasers (more tactile). It’ much like driving a older vintage car, it’s slower to get to your destination but the drive is more enjoyable🚘
.
🔬Skin science: TCA can be applied as a superficial, medium (most common) & deep peel. In this case I employed it as a medium depth peel, to the upper papillary dermis. In some cases I combine it with Jessner for deeper penetration
.
👉Downtime: 5- 8 days depending on the strength and coats
.
😢Pain: Tolerable with topical application of numbing and skin cooling. I do give oral conscious sedation if deeper peeling
.
👍🏻Good for: Skin type 1-2+, pigment, freckles, sun damage, solar keratosis, mild to moderate wrinkles, lentigos/ age spots
.
👎🏼Not good for: Darker skin, deep wrinkles, melasma

Where can biostimulators be used?
Biostimulators are super flexible. It can be used on the face to improve skin quality, but also on the neck & chest to reduce wrinkles & boost collagen production in these key areas.
On label indications also include skin laxity on the arms & body.
At what age can patients use biostimulators
Whilst biostimulators can be used at any age, this hydration treatment is best suited for patients over the age of 30.

What occurs during your biostimulator treatment?
During a biostimulator treatment, a personalised consultation is first completed to assess your skin concerns, medical history, and suitability.
If appropriate, the treatment area is cleansed and a topical numbing cream may be applied to support comfort.
Treatment duration, number of sessions, and recovery considerations vary between individuals. Your practitioner will discuss expected timelines, possible side effects, and aftercare instructions during your consultation so you can make an informed decision about your care.
What is the after care following bioremodelling Treatment?
The use of bioremodellers can yield an immediate, long-lasting result. It is important to avoid touching or exercising in that area for 24 hours after treatment so as not disturb or displace the bioremodeller.
What treatments can be combined with bioremodellers?
Our favorite combinations include-
Bioremodellers + LARI: Hydrate & tighten, lasers & retinoids improve skin quality.
Bioremodellers + RF: This powerful combination of hydration & skin tightening will increase the firmness of your skin.

What is the maintenance program like?
Official treatment frequency varies between individuals and should be guided by clinical assessment and personal treatment goals. In some cases, maintenance sessions may be recommended at intervals determined during consultation.
How would I know if bioremodelling is right for me?
Book an appointment with our nurses or dermatologists. They will examine your skin, & understand your goals. Our dermatologists have 20 years of experience in the field of aesthetic dermatology.
What is the consensus when it comes to bioremodelling and acne scars?
The two biggest papers to date namely a 2019 paper & this 2022 paper by G. Mohammed & team entitled: ‘Triple steps acne scar revision technique: A new combination therapeutic modality for atrophic acne scars.’
This study examined 82 patients, divided into two groups. Saline versus Biostimulator. The results showed that clinical improvement was achieved in both groups, however in the Biostimulator arm the improvements were superior.
The primary reasons that Biostimulator ranks favorably amongst hydrating treatments is due to-
- Highest amount of Hyaluronic acid per ml, 32 mg or 64 mg per 2 ml. No other skin hydrating treatment in Australia ranks as high, as of 2022.
- Low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid. This lends itself to tissue integration, super important if treating acne scars.
- Collagen stimulating properties. Keep in mind that the primary aim of scar revision is to encourage collagen formation by you, the patient. No shortcuts, just the most efficient method of replenishing a collagen deficit due to acne.
