Most patients will benefit from 2 sessions one month apart. If you have significant laxity, a third treatment may be required. 

(FYI: in European studies where there is less sun-damage, a good lift on the neck was seen in two treatments. If you are a Queenslander or have had significant UV, you will probably require 3 session.)

Unlike fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm & Belotero, Profhilo has low & high molecular weight hyaluronic acids. This means better collagen stimulation & added tissue integration. The content of hyaluronic acid is over twice that of normal HA fillers. 

This dermal injection is super flexible. It can be used on the face to improve skin quality, but also on the neck & chest to reduce wrinkles & boost collagen production in these key areas.

On label indications also include skin laxity on the arms & body.

Whilst Profhilo can be used at any age, this filler is best suited for patients over the age of 30. 

Each treatment session takes between 5 to 15 minutes, depending on surface area. Treatments are well tolerated with very little pain.

Yes, but the true value of Profhilo is to stimulate collagen production with minimal volume. For lip fillers you require structure & not tissue integration. Stick to the HA range of fillers from Restylane, Allergan & Merz.

Traditional fillers include PLLA & Radiesse or calcium hydroxylapatite. Profhilo® is a unique skin treatment that works by stimulation of collagen & elastin in the skin through the gradual release of Hyaluronic Acid (HA). 

Unlike other injectables that use fillers to displace volume & stretch out the skin, Profhilo uses different sizes of hyaluronic acid, to rebuild new, younger-looking skin cells.

With other dermal fillers the outcomes tend to be localized because the gel only stays in the area in which it has been injected. However Profhilo is different. We mark the areas to be treated prior to Profhilo filler injections. Most people find it tolerable, especially when anesthetic cream is used.

The entire treatment process usually takes under 30 minutes and has no required recovery time, so you can get back to your day straight after treatment.

The use of Profhilo fillers can yield an immediate, long-lasting result. It is important to avoid touching or exercising in that area for 24 hours after treatment so as not disturb or displace the filler.

Of all the big studies on acne scars & dermal fillers, Profhilo ranks as one of the best. The two biggest papers to date namely a 2019 paper & this 2022 paper by G. Mohammed & team entitled: ‘Triple steps acne scar revision technique: A new combination therapeutic modality for atrophic acne scars.’

This study examined 82 patients, divided into two groups. Saline versus Profhilo. The results showed that clinical improvement was achieved in both groups, however in the Profhilo arm the improvements were superior. 

The primary reasons that Profhilo ranks favorably amongst dermal fillers is due to-

1. Highest amount of Hyaluronic acid per ml, 32 mg or 64 mg per 2 ml. No other dermal filler in Australia ranks as high, as of 2022.
2. Low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid. This lends itself to tissue integration, super important if treating acne scars.
3. Collagen stimulating properties. Keep in mind that the primary aim of scar revision is to encourage collagen formation by you, the patient. No shortcuts, just the most efficient method of replenishing a collagen deficit due to acne. 

Profhilo is best suited for atrophic, rolling & diffuse boxcar acne scars. Ice Pick acne scars follow a different pattern & algorithm. In most cases we perform combination treatments including subcision, TCA CROSS-paint & laser in the same session as Profhilo. 

Remember, this filler works differently in comparison to normal dermal fillers; Profhilo stimulates your own collagen, hence the best results are seen 3-6 months after injections.
